Goals

2025 is just a few days away. When I'm thinking of setting goals, I take a look at where I am first before looking towards where I want to be.

Ten years ago, I set out to lose 60 pounds in 6 months. I accomplished that goal through:

  1. wearing a fitness tracker

  2. tracking my meals

  3. weighing myself daily

  4. Strength training 5 days a week

  5. Cardio 2x a week

One consequence of such rapid weight loss was loose skin at my lower abdomen. It used to bother me but now I think of it as a badge of honor.

These days, my goals are 100% strength oriented. In 2023, I competed 13 times. This year, I only did 4 sanctioned meets. People who compete too often have no opportunity to improve. I'm all about improvement.

Set realistic goals, listen to your coach (ahem) and develop those disciplined habits that will take you far in all facets of your life.
